Neeru Dosa


Neeru-Dosa


                          This is a Dosa from the northern part of Kerala.. A malabari dish for us, keralites. But this is very prominent in Mangalore and Karnataka region. I got this from my mom who loves experimenting different tastes. Her Neeru dosa is very tasty , by the way, anyone can make this tasty as its very EASY. Going through my recipe will make you believe me...

Ingredients:

  1. Raw rice (Pacha ari ) : 1 Cup
  2. Grated Coconut : 1/2 cup
  3. Salt : to taste
  4. Water : 1/2 cup

Method :

  1. Wash rice and soak it in water for atleast 2-3 hours .
  2. Blend the rice to get grain-free batter.
  3. Add coconut to this with water and blend again to get smooth batter. The consistency should be a little watery like below 

     


  4. Heat a non stick pan ,I use Vellappam pan or you can use a frying pan. When the pan gets hot, pour a ladle of batter on to its centre as in pic 1 and quickly swirl around to make a circled shaped as we do for Vellappam ; see pic 2 . The pan should be hot such that when you pour dosa, you will find bubbles and holes over it as you see in pic 2.

    And you dont need to thicken the center of dosa like Vellappam. It should be flat and thin like Dosa . This dosa's specialty is in its paper thinness . 
  5. Cover with lid and wait for 2-3 min. No need to flip .And yes, thats it . Your tasty Neeru Dosa is ready to serve. Chicken curry or Beef curry is a best combination for this one.
