Pressed Rice / Avil Milk

You never know what incident might bring changes in you. It might change your whole life sometimes. I am a strong believer of serendipity. Entering into this world of cooking is a very big example. It was a birthday party that made me to wear an apron with a happy heart. Earlier I cooked just to fill our appetite . But now I find lots of pleasure in this. And I pray to God to let my interest keep going as long as possible.
This drink also came unexpectedly. And its the facebook this time. Usually I rarely check the status updates from my friends. But during this ramzan, I saw my senior posting to have 'avil milk' for Athazham ( Athazham is eating food 1 hr before sunrise to start fasting )Puzzled to hear this unheard milk, I googled it out and prepared the same day. It was awesome. An energy drink that could fill your empty stomach within a few minutes . You can have this for  Athazham during Ramzan.

Ingredients :

Avil or Pressed rice : 1/2 cup
Milk : 2 Cup
Small banana (Poovan Pazham or Cheru Pazham ) : 1 or 2
Sugar : to taste
Ghee : 2 tbsp
Peanuts or cashewnuts : 1/4 cup

Method :

Roast Avil & drynuts in ghee for few minutes. In a blender mix all of this for few minutes until its smooth but slightly grained (thari ) like in Thari Kanji.  If its too thick add little water or if its thin, add more Poovan Pazham . Garnish with peanuts

A variation to this is Avil Milk Special which has diced fruits instead of sugar and Avil Milk Special with Icecream which has ice cream also along with fruits.
